Working Conditions
According to the regulations of the Fellowship Programme the responsibilities of the Fellow and the Institution are established in § 3: The Fellow participates in the programme according to the rules established in the regulations. The Fellow’s employment status at the institution is regulated by a work contract between employer and employee at the beginning of employment.
The Fellow is granted employment at the institution she/he applies from. The employee is granted general state employment under the rules and regulations of § 30 in the Bill of Universities and University Colleges.
Employment is for three years. Fellows must complete the Fellowship Programme and submit the artistic project for evaluation before the end of this term. Fellows must also abide by the regulations of the Steering Committee, including the mandatory parts of the programme – as well as regulations for the approved project.
The institution as employer also assumes the responsibility of preparing work conditions for the Fellow in order for her/him to complete the programme, regulations § 2.2, second last section. The institution is thus responsible for providing the Fellow an appropriate workspace and necessary equipment/administration funds.
The institution also provides and funds tutorship, § 5.3, as well as a final appreciation for the Fellow, see § 8. The professional establishment of the individual institution must consider tutor requirements, evaluation methods and final appreciation etc.
Admission to the Fellowship Programme is through formal contract, based on the programme regulations, regulating the parties’ mutual rights and obligations. The contract is established between the candidate, the institution employing the candidate and the Fellowship Programme. The contract describes the project’s theme, contractual period, funding, tutoring, workplace and participation in the Programme’s mandatory parts.
In addition to this contract separate agreements will be established between the institution and the Fellowship Programme regarding tutoring and final appreciation. The Fellow has the right to be heard regarding tutoring before tutor contract is established.
Normally the Fellowship is paid with salary class 43 – currently NOK 353.000 per year – NOK 29 416,70 per month.
The trial period is generally six months. The Fellow must adhere to the institution’s working regulations.
In case of unsatisfactory progress the Steering Committee may terminate the Fellow’s participation in the programme § 5.3. The Steering Committee can revoke the contract of a Fellow’s participation in the programme if the conditions for work sharing is not adhered to by the institution § 3. In such cases the Fellowship is returned to the programme 3 months after the institution has been informed of the Steering Committee’s decision.
