Course description:
Theories behind documentation; conventional, contemporary and experimental approaches. Camera and sound technicalities, theoretical aspects and demonstrations. Shooting and recording techniques, camera practice and recording professional looking shots. Fellow presentations of past video documentation work in progress. Shooting and Recording Practice based on creating ideas for documentation class. Analysis of shooting and recording practice. Output to computer. Device control with Final Cut Pro, compression, aspect ratio and file transfer, backup, uncompressed archive and HDV DVD. Continuation of shooting and recording practice based on ideas for documentation class. Simple editing techniques (Final Cut Pro) and delivery format discussion. Edit practice followed by group analysis.

Course in presentation skills

The object of this course is to strengthen the research fellows' ability to give good presentations, and to develop a critical attention to this subject.

Introductory course

Course description:
The course aims to give new research fellows and new supervisors an understanding of the background, objective, structure and working methods of the programme. It is a one day course and consists of introductions and plenary dialogues.
